2025 Ethics Awareness Month Virtual Events

In March, the CPCU Society celebrates Ethics Awareness Month to emphasize the organization’s dedication to ethical behavior by encouraging its 153 chapters to host ethics-related activities. Many chapters are offering virtual sessions!

Recognizing Alice B. Fielding

At our January 16, 2025 breakfast honoring past chapter presidents, we were blessed to have family members of Alice B. Fielding, the oldest living past president of the North Florida CPCU Society Chapter, in attendance. Ms. Fielding held the chapter presidency in 1985-86 and was a trailblazer in the industry.

Her son Michael and granddaughter Michelle shared childhood memories of Ms. Fielding’s agency, Heston-Fielding & Associates. The agency was incorporated in 1974 when women faced significant challenges in the industry due to gender bias and discrimination. Not only did she succeed in her business, she went on to serve on the Board of Trustees of the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (AICPCU) and the Insurance Institute of America (IIA). She was also the President of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) in 1990.

Ms. Fielding was honored by The Institutes in 1992 for her continuing service to the profession and was presented with a framed artist’s rendering of the Institutes’ campus in Malvern, PA. She was commended for giving “generously of her time, energy, and expertise to support our educational programs.” She was also recognized as an “excellent role model for the increasing number of women in the insurance industry.”

At our breakfast meeting, Michael and Michelle presented the lithograph to the chapter along with the original 1992 AICPCU news release and photo from the presentation ceremony. This important piece of history and memory of Alice Fielding’s contributions to the profession will be treasured by the chapter.  

We are honored to recognize her contributions to The CPCU Society, The Florida Insurance Industry, our chapter and the Northeast Florida Community.
